A maze for ants or brail for something huge.

The bark looks like rocks.

Sometimes I wish you could really feel the texture in a photograph.

Something here is suspicious.

I can see the moon.

I live in a shiny place.

The strangest things give off heat.

Potted plant.

Climbing dead things in color.

Light and texture and shadow and little else.

This slingshot could do some serious damage.

I used to count these.

I wonder if someone's looking at me.

I like moving the sun around.

A falling space ship.

Thoughts on Simen Johan

I was drawn to this piece by it's stunning detail and color. There's a great amount of motion captured in the scene but the figures are perfectly still. The birds hovering so close to the two large figures are strange because it makes sense that they would flee when faced with such a monumental battle taking place inches from their beaks. The birds and the scale of the massive figures quickly alerted me to the fact that this image is contrived. Even with the subtle warping of reality the artist employs I think that this is image is a good example of a linear narrative because this appears to be a frozen moment in time with a story the precedes and recedes from this point.
